Three Board members, Drs. Garden, Fogle, and Swann, have contributed to the body of literature on lymphoid and myeloid regulatory cells of dogs and cats. These studies have characterized these cells for the first time in states of health and disease, demonstrating that they share phenotypic and functional characteristics with equivalent murine and human regulatory cells. This research has focused on regulatory T cells (Tregs) and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs).
